ABOUT US · APPLE HERITAGE MUSEUM
From the cellars, the story of the apple
The Apple Heritage Museum was born in Lugano from AV Informatica’s private collection: hundreds of original Apple devices, recovered and brought back to life.
Among the first businesses to bring the Macintosh to Ticino, AV Informatica kept materials and technologies in its own cellars for decades. Today those devices, hundreds of original pieces, from the rare Apple I and Lisa to Apple’s digital cameras of the 1990s, have been recovered, largely still working, and made accessible to the public and to enthusiasts.
AV Informatica, Apple pioneers in Ticino
AV Informatica’s roots go back to the 1970s, when Audiovideo was founded, a pioneering company in Ticino’s technology sector. As early as 1979 Audiovideo was selling the first Apple computers, anticipating a drive for innovation that would define its path in the years to come.
From this experience, AV Informatica was officially founded in 1995. Based in Lugano, an Apple Premium Authorized Service Provider in 2014 and 2016, and today the exclusive agent for Italian-speaking Switzerland of the OfficeMaker management software. Alongside the sale of IT products and solutions, it offers technical support, IT consulting, training, and specialized assistance to individuals, businesses, and institutions.
A collection born from the cellars
The museum brings together hundreds of original Apple devices (more than 400 catalogued) from the rare Apple I and Lisa to the most iconic computers, from historic peripherals to servers, all the way to the digital cameras Apple produced in the 1990s, passing through iPhone, iPod, and iconic pieces of Apple’s evolution. Most of these devices are in working order. The collection took shape by recovering materials kept for decades in the company’s cellars, now made accessible to the public and to enthusiasts.
Not just a tribute to the history of the apple, but living testimony to the journey shared by AV Informatica and the evolution of personal computing.
