History

The PowerMac G4 (Quicksilver) introduced a slightly modified enclosure in the G4 line. It also included a processor speed increase and brought the DVD-R "SuperDrive" reader to the mid-range model. The PowerMac Quicksilver was available in three configurations: the 733 MHz model, with 128 MB of RAM, a 40 GB hard drive and a CD-RW drive, cost $1,699 USD; the 867 MHz configuration, with 128 MB of RAM, a 60 GB hard drive and a DVD-R drive, cost $2,499 USD; and the high-end dual-800 MHz model, with 256 MB of RAM, an 80 GB hard drive and a DVD-R drive, cost $3,499 USD.
