History

The Mac II was the most expandable Macintosh ever. Based on the new 68020 processor, the Mac II was the first 32-bit Mac (although it was not "clean 32-bit"). The Mac II included 6 Nubus slots, which allowed the installation of numerous Apple and third-party expansion cards. The Mac II was the first Mac equipped with color graphics capabilities: it was possible to install a graphics card capable of handling up to 16.7 million colors. The original selling price was 3,898 US dollars for the base configuration, and 5,498 US dollars for the complete system with 1 MB of RAM, an 800 KB floppy disk drive and an internal 40 MB SCSI hard drive.
