History

Introduced in May 2011, the iMac (Mid 2011) models represented an improvement over the previous iMac (Mid 2010) line, adding quad-core processors across the entire lineup. The iMac (Mid 2011) were also the first Mac desktop computers to include the new high-speed Thunderbolt I/O port. The iMac (Mid 2011) were available in four configurations: 21.5"/2.5 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1199 USD, 21.5"/2.7 GHz/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1499 USD, 27"/2.7 GHz/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1699 USD, 27"/3.1 GHz/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/1 GB VRAM/$1999 USD. Customizable options included up to 16 GB of RAM, quad-core Core i7 processors at 2.8 GHz or 3.4 GHz, a 2 TB hard drive, a 256 GB SSD, and 2 GB of VRAM.
