History

In July 2000, Apple replaced the 17" and 15" Studio Display monitors with new displays. The 15" monitor was renamed Studio Display LCD and the 17" Studio Display monitor was now supplied in a transparent acrylic enclosure. Both featured the ADC, Apple's new Apple Display Connector, which carried data, USB, and power in a single cable. The 21" Studio Display monitor was discontinued. On May 21, 2001, Apple discontinued its last CRT monitor (17" DiamondTron) and launched a 17" LCD display.

• In 2000, Apple revolutionized its displays by introducing the ADC (Apple Display Connector), an innovative connector that carried data, USB, and power in a single cable, greatly simplifying connections. • The new 17" Studio Display from 2000 featured an elegant transparent acrylic enclosure, allowing customers to admire the internal design of the device. • In May 2001, Apple completely abandoned CRT (cathode ray tube) technology by discontinuing its last monitor of this type, the 17" DiamondTron, marking the end of an era in Apple displays.
