Introduced in June 2012, the MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2012) was based on Intel's new generation "Ivy Bridge" architecture and represented an improvement over its predecessor, the MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2011), with faster processors and graphics and USB 3.0. It was marketed in two configurations: Intel Core i5 at 1.7 GHz, 64 GB SSD, 4 GB of RAM, $999 in the United States and Intel Core i5 at 1.7 GHz, 128 GB SSD, 4 GB of RAM, $1099 in the United States. Integrated 8 GB RAM was available as a build-to-order configuration option (no secondary market RAM upgrades were possible). Options for the high-end model included a dual-core Intel Core i7 at 2.0 GHz and 256 GB or 512 GB flash storage.
