History

Announced in October 2005, the PowerMac G5 (late 2005) was the first PowerMac to be marketed with dual-core PowerPC G5 processors. It also included higher bus speeds and memory, larger capacity hard drives in the entry-level and mid-range models, improved graphics cards and PCI Express expansion slots. It was available in three configurations: the 2.0 GHz model cost $1,999 USD, the 2.3 GHz model cost $2,499 USD, and the 2x2.5 GHz model, with four processor cores, cost $3,299 USD.
