History

On June 28, 2004, Apple presented a completely renewed line of Cinema displays. The new models featured an aluminum enclosure with sizes of 20, 23, and 30 inches. All displays were now connected via DVI, making the screens compatible with Windows PCs. The new flagship at $3,299 USD, the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display, required the new NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL graphics card to display the maximum resolution.

• In 2004 Apple introduced the aluminum Cinema Display in three different sizes (20, 23 and 30 inches), completely abandoning the previous design for a more modern and elegant look. • The top-of-the-line 30-inch model cost as much as $3,299 and required an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL graphics card to fully exploit its maximum resolution. • For the first time the Cinema Display used DVI connectivity, making these Apple monitors compatible with Windows computers as well, significantly expanding their potential market.
