Introduced in July 2010, the iMac (Mid 2010) models represented essentially performance improvements over the previous iMac (Late 2009) line. The iMac (Mid 2010) was available in four configurations: 21.5"/3.06 GHz i3/4 GB RAM/500 GB HD/256 MB VRAM/$1199 USA, 21.5"/3.2 GHz i3/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1499 USA, 27"/3.2 GHz i3/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1699 USA, 27"/2.8 GHz i5/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/1 GB VRAM/$1999 USA. Custom order options included up to 16 GB of RAM, Core i5 processors at 3.6 GHz or quad-core Core i7 at 2.93 GHz, a 2 TB hard drive, and a 256 GB SSD.

• The iMac Mid 2010 represented an important technological milestone: it was the first in the line to feature Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processors, marking the evolution toward the Sandy Bridge series. • The 27-inch model with quad-core i5 processor at 2.8 GHz cost $1,999 and could be customized up to 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage, offering unprecedented computing power for the consumer market. • Despite being primarily an incremental update compared to 2009, this iMac introduced for the first time the option to install a 256 GB SSD as the boot drive, a precursor to Apple's future transition toward solid-state drives.
