History

Released in September 1999, alongside the Power Macintosh G4, the Apple Cinema Display was the largest flat panel monitor on the market. Unlike tube displays, it offered an enormous viewable area, but required only minimal desk space. In July 2000 the Cinema Display was updated and equipped with the new Apple Display Connector (ADC). In March 2002 Apple launched the 23-inch Apple Cinema HD display that supported a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. The smaller Apple Cinema Display remained available.
