History

The iPad Air is the fifth iPad model. Presented during a press conference on October 22, 2013, the iPad Air is equipped with the Apple A7 64-bit processor and an M7 coprocessor. The iPad Air represents the first major design change in the iPad since the iPad 2 generation; it now features a thinner design with a thickness of 7.5 millimeters and a narrower bezel similar to that of the iPad mini. Apple reduced the overall volume of the iPad Air by using thinner components, achieving a 25% weight reduction compared to the iPad 2. While using the same 9.7-inch Retina display as the previous iPad model, an improved front-facing camera makes FaceTime use much clearer. The new front-facing camera is capable of recording HD video at 720p, includes face recognition and backlighting. The rear camera also received an upgrade; now called the iSight camera, in addition to the same functions as the front-facing camera, it also contains a 5MP CCD sensor, a hybrid infrared filter, and a fixed ƒ/2.4 aperture.
