History

In October 2012, a new iMac model was presented characterized by a monitor depth considerably smaller compared to previous models, measuring 5mm at its thinnest point. The 21.5" and 27" screens maintained their previous resolutions, respectively 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. RAM memory was updated; the standard configuration is now 8 GB, with an optional maximum of 32 GB for the 27" model. Apple also updated the computer processors, using Core i5 and Core i7 based on Intel's Ivy Bridge microarchitecture. Video cards are now standard Nvidia. USB 3.0 ports were included for the first time. The 2012 iMac also offers the option of a Fusion Drive that combines an SSD and a traditional HDD to create more efficient and faster storage.
